Crumpets Anyone?

Tea and Titties.  Miss Cake. Bryce BridgesOmaha Ne.

My concept here was to portray beautiful women with a strong sense of personal style and attitude. I didn’t want them to have a “model-ly” look. Women in charge of their femininity enough to flaunt it and yet make fun of ideals.  I like the irony of grown women playing dress up. It was my first collaboration with Bryce and he really captured the vividness and fun I wanted in an animated way.  This was such a fun photo shoot because they really let it all out.
Miss Cake
My role in a shoot of this kind is to adopt the mission and motivation of the designer and work with the stylist to best further the production. In this case the designer and the stylist were one in the same, the talented Miss Cake. After getting a look at the concept and the design and talking it over it was up to me to amplify the energy so that it would communicate in still photograph form. The approach I chose was to lift what was already an exaggerated and surreal grouping of elements just a little bit higher. By covering everything with light rather than casting shadows I was able to allow the vibrancy of the design and style to really come to the fore and take center stage.

All the methodology aside, this was just a very fun shoot. With the vibrancy and vision of Miss Cake, whose work I was already a fan of, and the addition of models AV and Monica Ortiz, who added their own irrepressible energy, this shoot came together in a very organic way. So much so I feel mine was the easiest job on set. Just capture the energy on set. It was a piece of Cake.
