Concrete Catwalk @ BFF (Benson’s VERY First Friday!)
BFF spun sweetness last Friday…aside from allegedly blocking off the turn lane on 60th & 61st of Maple for the Concrete Catwalk Fashion Strut. Benson totally kicked its summer game up a notch with a weird, grimy twirl on gallery open houses; live street art; music and performance; digital art; and more beer stock than snack samples. Whoop Whooop for Sir Alex Johim & Lady Jamie Hardy, rockin’ it down to the pavement!
Catwalk Fitting
Meeting with the fabulous Paperdoll, Lion’s Mane and Parlour 1887, the essential outcome was big, bright and down the middle of Maple St, a Flash Mob Fash Show. With a small-scale show, I was able to form concentrated looks for each model, allotting separate identities, unifying them through color, consistent balance of patterns & solids, and poise of vintage & modern silhouettes.
Pre Game at Paperdoll w. Gerard Pefung’s Art sprinkled throughout the interiors. Hair & Make Up By Parlour 1887. They created a roll through the decades for each model; representing 50′s, 60′s & 70′s styles, working in EV’s purple, paisley satin scarf as well as the Aztec band, brown feathered headpiece. And who is the adorable sign man, traffic conductor – “Caution Fashion: Turn Lane Preoccupied.”
I was rockin‘ a strapless silk, floral patterned top - I seriously purchased at Victoria Secret when I was in High School – whoa! & a red, leather, button back, early 90′s Ann Taylor thrifted, hand me down. Gold “V” thick chain necklace from Scout. All eve I had every intention of a change into heels, but never made it to the actual swap. I trooped around in my checkered Vans…I am a firm believer they truly do go with everything!
